Our Philosophy

The Art of Japanese Hospitality

KAIYŌ — 海洋, “the ocean” — was founded on a simple conviction: that Japan is best encountered the way the sea meets the shore, slowly, deeply, and without distraction. We are not a travel agency. We are an atelier of journey-makers who design each itinerary the way a kaiseki chef composes a seasonal menu.

Every ryokan we book has been slept in by our own team. Every guide we assign has walked their city with us for years. This is travel without friction, without queues, and without compromise.

Keys to Closed Doors

Chauffeurs, porters, and a 24-hour concierge line — you simply arrive.

The Family Collection

Wonder, for Every Generation

Japan is the world’s most generous playground — safe, immaculate, and endlessly fascinating. We design family journeys where grandparents glide through bamboo groves, parents sip matcha in quiet gardens, and children feed sacred deer — together, unhurried, in comfort.

Family suites with garden views, children’s yukata, and menus that delight small palates.

Green Car Grand Tours

Reserved Shinkansen first-class seats — Tokyo to Kyoto in glide, with Mount Fuji at your window.

Ninja & Samurai Dojos

Private hands-on classes: shuriken throwing, sword etiquette, and taiko drumming.

Nara Deer Park Picnic

Beneath the Great Buddha, feed the sacred bowing deer of Nara Park — a memory forever.

The Couple Collection

Romance, Written in Cherry Blossom

Some journeys are honeymoons; others are anniversaries, or simply the two of you, finally. We compose couples’ travels like a love letter — private baths beneath falling snow, dawn at the vermilion gates, and evenings that belong to no one else.

Private Onsen Suites

Open-air hot-spring baths fed by mountain springs — reserved for two, under the snow or the stars.

Kaiseki for Two

Candle-lit multi-course dinners served in your room by the ryokan’s master chef.

Kimono Photoshoot in Gion

A professional photographer walks beside you through Kyoto’s lantern lanes at dusk.

Fushimi Inari at Dawn

Ten thousand vermilion gates, entirely to yourselves — before the world wakes.

Eight-Day Signature Route

  1. Day 1–3 · Kyoto — Gion evenings, Arashiyama & dawn at Fushimi Inari
  2. Day 4 · Uji — Tea fields & a private matcha ceremony
  3. Day 5–6 · Hakone — Onsen ryokan & Mount Fuji from Lake Ashi
  4. Day 7 · Kamakura — Seaside temple stroll & the Great Buddha
  5. Day 8 · Tokyo — Rooftop dinner above the neon sea
